Hundreds of miles from any ocean, this project demanded creative and original design concepts to manufacture seawater and re-
create a wide variety of ocean environments. Our engineering professionals were challenged to research and develop new
approaches in water management systems to efficiently and effectively sustain critical life support. From balmy tropical coral
reefs and Amazon rain forests to penguin playgrounds in the Antarctic, this facility displays them all.
Built on the site of the existing aquarium, this three-story structure is approximately fifteen times the size of the previous
aquarium. Some of the original existing concrete fish tanks were relocated to the new structure and fitted with new life-support
systems.

In 1996, Alvine Engineering received an Engineering Excellence Grand Award by the American Consulting Engineers Council of
Nebraska and Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award by the National Society of Professional Engineers Eastern Chapter.
